VEHICULAR RESTRICTIONS FROM JUNE 7TH TO JULY 11TH

As of today, Friday June 4th in the morning, new vehicular restrictions were released by the Government, and these will go on for the whole month of June and part of July. Following, we will explain how they will work out:

  • From Monday 7th to Sunday 13th: The vehicular restriction implemented under a scheme of alternate license plates will be kept and applied for the whole country from June 7thto June 13th, according to the following calendar describing the plates that CANNOT circulate per day:
    • Monday June 7th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Tuesday June 8th: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Wednesday June 9th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Thursday June 10th: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Friday June 11th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Saturday June 12th: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Sunday June 13th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
  • From June 14th to June 27th: The vehicular restriction will go back to how it used to be before, which is stating per day two plates that cannot drive. Following, the plates that CANNOT circulate:
    • Monday: 1, 2
    • Tuesday: 3, 4
    • Wednesday: 5, 6
    • Thursday: 7, 8
    • Friday: 9, 0
    • Saturday: even plates
    • Sunday: odd plates
  • From June 28th to July 11th: The vehicular restriction will go back again to the scheme of alternate license plates. As follows, the schedule of the ones that CANNOT circulate:
    • Monday June 28th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Tuesday June 29th: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Wednesday June 30th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Thursday July 1st: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Friday July 2nd: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Saturday July 3rd: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Sunday July 4th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Monday July 5th: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Tuesday July 6th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Wednesday July 7th: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Thursday July 8th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Friday July 9th: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Saturday July 10th: odd plates (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
    • Sunday July 11th: even plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
  • The nighttime driving ban remains the same: Monday through Sunday, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • The list of exceptions remains in force (you can reach out to us for the complete list).

Restrictions for Activities and Businesses: Restrictions for Activities and Businesses remain the same. As follows a brief summary of the measures that will be kept applying starting June 7th, 2021:

  • Most commercial businesses can operate from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with capacity limitations in some cases (reach out to us for the full list).
  • The following activities/businesses shall continue with a reduced capacity:
    • Academic and business events: 150 people.
    • Social events: 30 people.
    • Religious events: 200 people.
    • Bars and Casinos: 25% capacity.
    • Hotels that sleep more than 100 people: 75% capacity.
    • National parks: 50% capacity (except for Poás Volcano).
    • Public transport cannot take standing passengers.
  • Public transport: may keep functioning, maintaining the ban of standing passengers.
  • Beaches: May open from Monday to Sunday from 5:00 a.m. at 6:00 p.m.
  • Schools: Public schools are closed, and private schools have class online.
