Parents of Costa Rican citizens are eligible for a permanent residency, which is granted free of condition (in spanish: libre de condición), meaning it includes the permit to work for any Costa Rican employer or as an independent professional.

Each parent must apply for the residency as a principal, while minor dependents can obtain the residency through the bond with the Costa Rican.
