LAND BORDERS TO REOPEN FOR TOURISM STARTING APRIL 5TH, 2021
On March 23, 2021, the Tourism Minister announced through a press conference that the land borders are going to reopen for tourists on April 5th, 2021. The requirements of entry will remain the same established by the General Department of Immigration (and currently applied for entry via air), which are the following:

- Travel insurance covering hospitalization and accommodations expenses for COVID.
- Round trip ticket within the term of the tourist visa.
- Valid passport.
It is important to recall that the travel insurance must cover the entire stay in the country of the tourist and that the visa cannot be longer than the period covered by the insurance.
The Tourism Minister also announced that the sanitary order is removed for Costa Ricans and residents when entering through land borders, starting too on April 5th, 2021.
