GOOD NEWS FOR COSTA RICAN BEACH LOVERS!

Starting Wednesday January 13, 2021, and until January 31, 2021, beaches will remain open until 6:00p.m. (from 5:00a.m.)

The decision of the Costa Rican Government arrived after a meeting between the National Emergency Commission (CNE), the Ministry of Health and coastal municipalities.

The updated list of restrictions for the rest of January 2021 is as follows:

Vehicular restriction: Vehicles cannot circulate Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Plates restrictions will apply from January 4th through the rest of January 2021 according to the following schedule (stating the plates that CANNOT circulate):

  • Monday: 1, 2
  • Tuesday: 3, 4
  • Wednesday: 5, 6
  • Thursday: 7, 8
  • Friday: 9, 0
  • Saturday: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
  • Sunday: 2, 4, 6, 8, 0

The current list of exceptions, which includes rental vehicles, remains unmodified, and public transportation can still operate normally.

Beaches and National Parks: The beaches will be open from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and National Parks must limit capacity to 50%.

Bars and Casinos: Must limit capacity to 25%.

Commercial Businesses: Can remain open during the week from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on weekends from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
