CITIZENSHIP THROUGH RESIDENCY

Naturalization/citizenship through residency allows a foreigner to obtain Costa Rican nationality by reason of having resided in Costa Rica for five years (in case of Central Americans, Ibero-Americans, and Spanish by birth), or seven years (other nationalities). Applicants under the age of 65 years must approve an history and spanish language test as part of the requirements.
